Four Benefits of Dermal FIllers

Aging causes our skin to sag, droop and wrinkles to form. This can be most noticeable on the face and neck. It’s just life – aging is a continuous process that progressively advances as you get older. There are other factors that contribute to how much physical effects aging can have on your skin like stress, sun exposure, diet and how much rest you get.
What dermal fillers do is that they don’t necessarily reverse the aging process, but help your skin retain its youthfulness for decent amounts of time. They can be injected to areas of your face and neck to improve the skin’s volume and to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, leaving your face looking youthful and plump.
So what exactly are the benefits of using dermal fillers?
1. Dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid – This is a natural-occuring substance that occurs in the human body. This is what most dermal fillers are made from (like Restylane). Hyaluronic acid is what gives your skin its volume and fullness. It also allows for smoothing and a better contouring of the face. It’s safe and effective as your body absorbs it withing six to eight months.
2. Minimal to No Downtime – There’s virtually no downtime after getting dermal fillers injected into your skin. You can show up for a lunch appointment and go straight back to work afterwards. Occasionally, some patients experience a minimal amount of swelling but it usually goes away withing 24 hours.
3. No Pain Involved – When these injections are administered, usually they are combined with an anesthetic agent (like lidocaine) as well. Depending on the area, sometimes it takes multiple injections to complete a treatment, and we always ensure to keep the patient’s comfort and pain tolerance in mind.
4. Can Be Combined with Other Treatments – Dermal filler treatments are very flexible. They can (and are often recommended by dermatologists) be combined with other skin rejuvenation procedures, like botox as an example. This is to maximize the results of both treatments and to prolong its effects as well. Other treatments that dermal fillers can be combined with include PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy.
