More Habits You Need To Stop OVERDOING

They say old habits die hard. In skincare, old habits sometimes need to die to get amazing results. These habits can be the things that are holding you back from getting the skin you want, and you might not even know it. Here are three habits you need to stop doing for the sake of your skin:

Overwashing – When you touch your face, do you feel like the skin is squeaky clean? If so, that means you’ve been overwashing. Skin that doesn’t feel a little oily means it’s been washed to the point where the natural oils and lubricants it usually produces has been stripped away. Your skin creates lipids as a way to help moisturize itself. Your skin should feel more supple than squeaky. Never use soap to wash your face, instead opt for a mild cleanser with low lather. This is to prevent your skin’s natural barrier from being ripped apart by the harsh chemicals found in soap.

Overusing Cleansing Tools – Have you ever used a cleansing brush before? It’s generally not advisable to utilize a cleansing brush when your have sensitive skin. The overuse of a cleansing brush can result in redness, pain and irritation. This tool is meant for those who have thick or oily skin that requires some more help to cleanse. You should use a soft non-abrasive towel, or even just your fingertips when you are cleansing your face. Use gentle strokes and apply just enough pressure so you can feel the cleanser being applied thoroughly on your skin but at the same time without experiencing any pain.

Overexfoliating – Not only should you be exfoliating just once or twice a week, you should also be using a moisturizer afterwards. People tend to skip this critical step and end up causing more damage to their skin. Whether its a chemical exfoliant or a scrubbing exfoliating substance, you should always moisturize to seal in the hydration in your skin. This helps with the healing process done after literally stripping away the topmost layer part of your skin that’s full of irritants, dead skin cells and bacteria. If done right, regular exfoliation can result in soft, supple skin.
