The Top Three Products Should You Be Using in Your Middle Ages

Our skin changes when we hit middle age. For some, they lose the glow that they had when they were younger. For others, their skin becomes dry and dull. Wrinkles and fine lines also start to appear more often. This is the age where we should be thinking about what we want to achieve with our skincare regimen. Usually it goes from treating acne scars and improving on the good skin we had in our teens, to combating fine lines and retaining suppleness. This is the age where we need to elevate our routines. Here are the top three products you should be using:

  1. Sunscreen –  As usual, this is the most important product for skin care. Always protect your skin from the sun’s harsh UVA and UVB rays. Note that you should be looking for labels like BROAD SPECTRUM and a minimum SPF rating of 30. A few things you should also be looking at are labels that say ZINC OXIDE, TITANIUM DIOXIDE and IRON OXIDE. Both zinc oxide and titanium dioxide help protect you from the sun, while iron oxide actually shields your skin from the blue light emitted by your phone’s and computer’s screens.
  2. Anti-Aging Products – If you’re middle-aged, you should be looking into preserving your skin’s youthful appearance. Serums become much more important because when you hit your 40’s and 50’s is when your wrinkles start to look more prominent, and your skin truly shows its age. A serum in the morning that contains antioxidants and hyaluronic acid is optimal, while a retinol-based one is preferred at night.
  3. Moisturizers – One of the facts of life is that our skin dries up when we enter our 40’s. Because the collagen volume is lower and with our skin’s cells start to age faster, it can no longer retain as much moisture as before. This results in a duller-looking complexion and a coarser feel. To tackle this, you want moisturizers that contain hyaluronic acids, glycerin and ceramides. Make sure to moisturize in the morning and in the evening, and layer them after you have applied the serum of your choice.
