- Give it At Least Two Months – Whenever you change up your regimen, like adding a new product or switching to a different type, you have to give your skin some time to adapt to it. Don’t be frustrated when you are not seeing any results at first because while some products can provide immediate results, getting the full effect might take six to eight weeks to physically show.
- Give Supplements A Try – Active ingredients like vitamins are not only found in serums and oils but also in supplements like over-the-counter multivitamins. Applying them from serums are still the preferred method achieving good results for your skin but it doesn’t hurt to take vitamin supplements as well to maximize the amount you get on a daily basis. Make sure to check with your doctor first before taking oral vitamin supplements.
- Give Your Routine Some Time – It’s a routine because you have to adhere to it – doing the steps every day and sticking to them will eventually yield results, just like with exercise or diet. Doing your skincare routine daily will eventually ingrain it to your brain, making it almost second nature and making it easy for you.
- Order and Balance Matters – As far as order goes, the rule is to go from thin to thick. Apply your serums and and other liquids as the base of your product layers, then your lotions and creams. Remember your sunscreen! As far as balance goes, make sure you use the recommended amount for your products. The rule is to use a pea-sized amount for serums, nickel-sized amount for cleansers, and quarter-sized amount for moisturizers. If you’re unsure, you can always ask your dermatologist.
