Slowing Down The Signs of Aging – Cut Out These Habits
There are many ways to help slow down the signs of aging. Having a good skincare routine, visiting your dermatologist, and eating a healthy diet are important. However, there are other ways that most people don’t really think of that when followed, can also boost your skin’s youthful appearance. Here are three of them:
Wearing makeup the right way – Too much make-up, or having thick layers of makeup, can actually harm your skin. The substances found in makeup can clog up your pores that can cause excessive dryness. Clogged up pores means your skin can’t produce its natural lubricants that help with hydration. As a result, fine lines and wrinkles will form a lot quicker. It also doesn’t help that thick foundations and shiny makeup make you look much older, especially when it starts cracking around your face where wrinkles tend to form. The best way to apply makeup is to do it minimally as you age. Make use of natural shades that rather than thicker and heavier colors.
Sleeping on your back – Believe it or not, but sleeping on your sides, or on your face can produce wrinkles. The longer your face is pressed on the pillow, the circulation of blood and oxygen becomes lower and lower. This can lead to the appearance of permanent wrinkles. Not to mention having your face pressed on your pillow for long periods of time can press your skin into creating lines and that is not a good thing. You should train yourself to sleep on your back, your skin will thank you.
Cutting off your vices – This means you should stop smoking tobacco and drinking alcohol. Smoking reduces your skin’s oxygen supply and increases the amount of free radicals that do lead to wrinkles and a dull complexion. Alcohol on the other hand causes dehydration. When your skin is deprived of moisture, it can result to permanent damage. Alcohol intake also flares up the red blood vessels on your face that look unsightly.
