Your 2019 Skincare Resolutions

The new year is upon us, which means it’s time to work on your resolutions. What skincare resolutions do you have in mind? It’s safe to say that having a better skincare routine might be one of those, or that visiting the dermatologist more often is another. Here are three other things you might want to think about when you’re thinking about other things to add to your resolutions list:

Getting More Sleep – You should be getting AT LEAST 7 hours of sleep every night. Not only will you feel more rested, refreshed and invigorated but your skin will thank you for it. Those dark circles around people’s eyes? That’s caused by stress and lack of sleep. Speaking of stress, getting enough sleep can lower your stress levels, leading to less acne breakouts, inflammation and wrinkles.

Having Nighttime Regimen – A nighttime regimen can be very beneficial for your skin. At night, when you’re asleep, your skin begins to repair itself. Any skin rejuvenation product you apply have compounded effects while you’re resting. The application of anti-aging creams, moisturizers, and different types of serums can be done most effectively at night, just before you go to bed. Why? Because when you’re asleep, you’re not sweating or exposed to the elements, allowing the product to settle and be absorbed by your skin.

Picking At Your Skin – One of the things dermatologists don’t like their patients doing is picking at their skin. That pimple on your cheek? Leave it alone. That rash on your arm? Stop scratching it. It’s better to use proper treatment rather than just picking at it, as scarring and longer healing time might be the result of that. Consult your dermatologist about what the treatment should be, and stick with it.
